Capital
Health's University of Alberta Hospital

The University of Alberta Hospital (UAH) is one of
Canada’s leading clinical , research and teaching hospitals,
treating more than 700,000 patients annually from across western
and northern Canada.
Located on the University of Alberta Campus, the UAH is also home
to the Stollery Children’s Hospital. This “hospital
within a hospital” concept allows the two facilities to share
resources and equipment while meeting the specialized needs of each
patient population.
With over 650 beds, the two facilities offer a wide
range of diagnostic and treatment services for both adults and children,
including specialized services within cardiac sciences, neurosciences,
surgery, medicine, renal, critical care, emergency and trauma care
and a state-of the art burn unit.
Based at the UAH, Capital Health’s organ and tissue transplant
program is recognized as a national leader in both success rates
and transplant volumes. Providing support to the transplant and
surgery programs is the University Hospital’s Comprehensive
Tissue Centre, one of only two fully accreditated multi-tissue banks
in Canada.
This is also a teaching hospital, one recognized across the country
for superior research and learning opportunities. We are proud to
be closely aligned with the University of Alberta Faculty of Medicine
and Dentistry, Faculty of Nursing and other health sciences faculties.
