Education
Dr. Moore is a native Edmontonian and graduate from the University
of Alberta, receiving his MD with Distinction and First Class
Honors and Honors in Research in 1986. He did postgraduate
training in Vancouver and then returned to complete his surgical
training in urology and research at the University of Alberta.
Dr. Moore received his PhD in experimental surgery and oncology
research in 1991 under the supervision of Drs Chapman and
McPhee. He is currently a Professor in the Departments of
Surgery and Oncology, and an Alberta Heritage Foundation for
Medical Research (AHFMR) Senior Scholar.

Subspecialty Interests
Dr. Moore's clinical practice focuses on genitourinary cancers
and renal transplantation.
Research
Dr. Moore’s research focuses on novel modalities/therapeutics
for treating bladder and prostate cancer, and means of improving
survival of transplanted organs. This research has included
laser surgery (including PDT), development of laser and light
delivery/detection equipment, drug development, drug testing,
drug delivery, biochemical and biological modifiers, molecular
markers, predictive assays and gene therapy. To accomplish
this Dr. Moore has assembled a team of biologists, biochemists
and engineers who collaborate to translate these preclinical
studies. Dr. Moore is currently funded by the National Cancer
Institute of Canada, the Kidney Foundation of Canada, the
AHFMR and AltaChem Pharma.

Extracurricular Activities
Dr. Moore finds time to participate in his favorite non-academic
activity, waterskiing, competing at both provincial and national
levels. This pastime actively involves his wife and four children.
